Creating LYBUNT and SYBUNT Lists in HubSpot

LYBUNT (Gave Last Year But Unfortunately Not This Year) and SYBUNT (Gave Some Year But Unfortunately Not This Year) lists are standard development tools. HubSpot can generate these using Active List segments with gift association filters.


How to Build a LYBUNT List

Because LYBUNT requires filtering contacts based on their associated gift records, this must be built as a Segment (List) — not a View. Views cannot filter across associated objects.

  • Go to Contacts > Lists and create a new Active List
  • Add filter: Associated Gifts > Close Date is between January 1 and December 31 of last year
  • Add filter: Associated Gifts > Close Date is NOT between January 1 and December 31 of this year
  • Save and name the list (e.g., 'LYBUNT — [Year]')

NOTE

Active lists update automatically as gift data changes. Once a donor gives this year, they will be removed from the LYBUNT list automatically.

SYBUNT Variation

For SYBUNT, replace 'last year' with 'any prior year' by using a Close Date filter that is before January 1 of the current year, combined with no gift in the current year.
